Canterbury Festival's 'Summer in Barham' concert series welcomes The Orbi Playa Big Band with instrumental and vocal favourites from the golden era of Big Band music, made popular by the likes of Glen Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Benny Goodman, alongside classics by Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Bublé and contemporary arrangements in a range of styles.
Orbi Playa Big Band are led by Musical Director Steve Waterman, a top UK jazz trumpeter and visiting professor at Canterbury Christ Church University. Comprised of 16 musicians the band have performed across the UK and beyond with previous concerts in southern Spain, Cork Jazz Festival, Sounds New Festival, as well as performances on ITV and BBC Radio.
So pack a picnic, grab a deck chair and join us in the beautiful garden of Barham Court for an evening of music this summer.
Please note this is an outdoor picnic event – please bring blankets and camping chairs. There is no wet weather venue, so please do bring an umbrella just in case!
