Stour Valley Walk 3 - Chilham to Sturry

Discover the natural beauty and rich heritage of Kent as you journey along the Stour Valley Walk, a picturesque route that follows the tranquil waters of the Great Stour River. Stretching through lush meadows, vibrant woodlands, and charming villages, this scenic trail offers a perfect escape into the heart of the English countryside. Along the way, you'll encounter stunning landscapes, historic landmarks, and abundant wildlife, all while enjoying the serenity of Kent's rolling hills. From the ancient city of Canterbury to the tranquil marshes near Ashford, this trail is a true hidden gem of a trail. Step into the beauty of the Stour Valley and experience a journey through Kent’s timeless charm.

Start Point: Chilham – A charming village steeped in history, known for its picturesque square and medieval buildings. Begin your journey in this beautiful village before heading into the surrounding countryside. Key Highlights Along the Way: 1. Chartham: A picturesque village along the Great Stour River, known for its historic church and beautiful countryside. 2. Fordwich: Known as the smallest town in Britain, Fordwich offers a unique blend of history and charm. 3. Great Stour Way: As you approach Sturry, you'll follow the Great Stour River, walking along peaceful riverside paths and enjoying the rich local wildlife. o Flora and Fauna: Look out for wildflowers, butterflies, and birds along the riverbanks.

Final Destination: Sturry – A historic village just outside Canterbury, with easy access to the city's amenities. Conclude your scenic and historic adventure through East Kent’s stunning landscapes here.

Finish Location: Sturry station, Island Road, Sturry, Kent, CT2 0ED

Walking Time: 5 hours walking (including stopping for a lunch break)

Led by: Fully insured and first aid trained lowland leader guides The walk starts promptly on time. If you're running a bit behind schedule, give us a call to inform us (you'll find our number on your booking confirmation if you've booked through the website, or message Ian Henderson via MeetUp).

Friendly dogs are welcome! Please ensure they're leashed when needed, especially around fields with livestock. Owners are always fully responsible for their dogs. Before hitting the trail, make sure to pack: A - Suitable footwear (preferably walking boots or sturdy shoes, no flip-flops) B - A waterproof coat (and waterproof trousers, if you have them) for rainy days. C - Drinking water and a packed lunch. D - Personal medication (Let us know confidentially about any medical conditions) E - Suitable walking attire

IMPORTANT • If you have any COVID symptoms, please do not attend. • We take photos during our walks for promotional and training purposes. If you prefer not to be included, just let us know on the day.

Cancellation Policy - Cancel at least 4 days before the event to receive a credit note for a future walk, valid for 90 days.
