River Dipping – Stour Safari with KSCP

Great Stour Riverfest 2025

Take part in some river dipping and discover what lives in the River Stour, as well as learning about the simple steps we can all take to protect our watercourses.

Take part in some river dipping and discover what lives in the River Stour, as well as learning about the simple steps we can all take to protect our watercourses.

Each session will last for approximately 45 minutes and will cover:

  • An introduction to the River Stour and its importance as a chalk river.
  • An introduction to some of the river invertebrates which may be found
  • Demonstration on how to safely river dip
  • Plenty of time for river dipping
  • Identifying creatures found using ID guides.
  • Tips on how everyone can look after the River Stour and other watercourses.

Fun for all ages but best suited for primary school children.

Children must be accompanied at all times.

No participants will be entering the river during this event- river dipping will take place from the banks.

Booking:

No booking needed, turn up on the day! This is a free event.

Meeting Point:

Our Safari Stall will be within the Riverfest Gazebos, approach the tent to sign up to one of our Safari Sessions which will be running throughout the day at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of your Safari departure to ensure you do not miss the walking bus!

There will be a short-guided walk from the Plaza area at Riverside (Outside Curzon) down to the dipping areas on the Stour river.

Please wear suitable footwear for uneven terrain.

Tickets and Pricing

Free to attend. Session will start at 11am, 1pm and 3pm and can be booked from the Safari Stall in the Riverside Plaza.
