Only an hour from London, discover world-class events, up close. On Kent’s Romney Marsh, JAM on the Marsh returns with a stunning array of outstanding international and local artists, lighting up the magical coastline with music, theatre, film, art and workshops, from Dungeness to Hythe.
The festival unfolds in a variety of locations; from intimate mediaeval churches to local gardens and steam railway carriages; bringing the arts to unexpected places. Highlights of this year’s festival include the harmony and flair of world-leading King’s Singers, Spanish fire and Parisian jazz with the London Tango Quintet, Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night by irreverent open-air Changeling Theatre, with Radio 3 broadcast, the BBC Singers premiere royal composer Paul Mealor’s Light of Paradise with saxophone quartet, National Theatre Live screenings of A Streetcar Named Desire, a rare late night recital of piano meditations with Jonathan Dove and orchestral drama with Britten Sinfonia performing Satie, Dove and Mealor. Be transported to the smoky halls in a night of Cabaret. Travel the world with Kosmos Ensemble performing their dazzling fusion of Jewish, Gypsy, flamenco and Celtic influences.
JAM on the Marsh will also host 3 exhibitions including a new exhibition by multi award winning photographer Wendy Carrig mixing beach finds with perspective and scale; is it a fishing hook or alien spacecraft? Explore the Romney Marsh landscape, beach walks, steam railway, pubs with rooms and JAM on the Marsh. Discover the Marsh for an unforgettable experience.
