Showcasing the history and heritage of Ellington Park in Ramsgate as part of Heritage Open Days.
11am - 3pm
Ellington Park history and heritage day featuring information boards and talks about the park with special focus this year on our beautifully restored Bandstand which will host a local choir.
Along with the information about the park which has been a public park since 1893 there will be performances by the Elli Park Players who have created a costumed walk featuring historical characters attached to the park (and original estate land), since Roman times to the present day.
There will also be the miniature steam train running from our own park station Ellington Halt, courtesy of RaDMEC.Co.UK Within this beautiful park there is a cafe with fully accessible toilet facilities (open Tues-Sun 10am-4pm), a quiet wildlife area with a pond, an all inclusive children's play area, Trim Trail exercise area and our second-hand book shop selling a wide variety of reference books and fiction.
Ellington Park has just concluded judging for the prestigious Green Flag and Heritage Site Awards which they hope to retain for the 4th year running.
There is only limited nearby street parking but Ramsgate train station is just 5 mins walk as well as two Loop bus-stops (Ashburnham Road and Wilfred Road). The park is full accessible via four entrances and free to all to enter.
