Meet at The Mermaid Inn, The Street, Bishopsbourne, Canterbury CT4 5HX
Join Tony Walder for the first of two scenic circular walks exploring Canterbury's stunning countryside, as part of this year's Summer in Barham.
The 5.5 mile walk will begin at The Mermaid pub in Bishopsbourne, taking in views of Bourne Park, passing by what is thought to be England’s oldest Hop Garden and providing glimpses of the Elham valley railway. The group will then progress to the Downs above Bishopsbourne, through Charlton Woods, and back down via Chalrton Park to The Mermaid.
This event will go ahead unless severe weather forces a cancellation.
The walk includes one hill, country tracks but no stiles. Please be sure to wear waterproof clothing and walking boots, and pack essentials including water and suntan lotion.
