Starting at Rochester Cathedral, the Augustine Camino wanders through the orchards, woods and vineyards of Kent for 70 miles to the Shrine of St Augustine on the cliffs above the sea at Ramsgate.

Wander the part, or all of the 70-mile pilgrimage route in Kent, celebrating the mission of St Augustine to convert the English to Christianity, visiting many sites of global historical significance.

Start at Rochester Cathedral and travel via Aylesford and Canterbury to the Shrine of St Augustine on the cliffs above the sea at Ramsgate. Explore stunning examples of art and architecture, from the medieval to the modern, including work by the masters of the gothic revival, Pugin, Butterfield and Gilbert Scott. Beautiful villages and country pubs are conveniently placed all along the way.

Your tour guide Andrew has an unrivalled knowledge of the Augustine Camino and the cultural significance of the places visited. He will customise your experience to suit your particular motivation whether that be religious, cultural, historical, artistic or simply a desire to walk through the Garden of England.

  • Guided tours – £50 per person per day (minimum two people). The £50 fee includes accommodation booking and itinerary planning plus Andrew Kelly, founder of the Augustine Camino, as your guide. For further information and booking, email Camino@augustinecamino.co.uk
  • Weekend Caminos -  £300 per person including 2 nights shared accommodation, tour guide and taxis. Available on selected dates throughout the year, for those lacking the time or energy to walk the full route it is now possible to experience the Augustine Camino over a weekend based at Palace Farm in the Kent Downs. Enter Canterbury via Harbledown, St Dunstan’s and the Great West Gate just as medieval pilgrims did. Attend Evensong at the Cathedral and visit beautiful churches and villages full of extraordinary artwork.  There is normally a minimum of three people per booking, but if you are fewer, get in touch, and they'll try to find a convenient date when others are also planning to come. There is between four and six miles of walking each day.
