Sandhurst Farm Forge is based on the outskirts of the villages of Newnham and Doddington, within an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Charles is a professional Artist Blacksmith with over 50 years of experience. Still using his traditional skills and tools, smokeless fuel coke fire and anvil, he produces high quality hand forged functional and artistic pieces using Mild Steel. His recent works however have incorporated the use of other metals such as copper as well as mediums such as ceramics, marble and Tadcaster Limestone.

Gallery Shop

Alongside the commissioned work we have a small gallery with pieces available to buy and take away. Candlesticks, pokers, hooks, limited edition sculptural pieces.

The Gallery/Shop will be re-opening as from April 12th 2021 Fully Covid Compliant as always.  We do have contactless sanitiser available for your use, and we do ask that you wear a facemask on entering the building. For your safety, we also have a policy of only one “Car/ group /bubble” allowed in the shop at any one time. There is plenty of Parking on site.

Opening Times are: Tuesday to Friday 9am -5pm and Sat Mornings 9am -12 noon

Forging Taster Sessions—We are anticipating re -starting these in June/July2021

Over the last few years Charles has been offering taster sessions at the Anvil. They are usually two-hour sessions at a cost of £50.00. All safety equipment is provided for your use on the day including apron Gloves and eye goggles. As a Covid precaution the gloves will be personal to you, and you can take them away at the end of the session. Apron and Goggles will be rested and sanitised between students. We do however ask that you bring your facemask with you and wear a stout pair of covered shoes. Walking Boots are ideal.

Stay with us

To relax from the concentration of your forging lesson, why not make a two/three day visit of it and stay overnight in our B&B stable block while at the same time enjoying some of our Mid Kent Downs Scenery and walk the Syndale Valley Walk, or visit our Market Town of Faversham. We have two good pubs within 1 mile of us to provide you with a fantastic evening or lunchtime meal or use the car to go a little further.
