Sheppey Matters is a registered charity working within Sheppey Healthy Living Centre, part of the Sheppey Leisure Complex and usually coordinates a number of events and activities across the Island. Please check directly with the organisation as it slowly comes out of lockdown what activities are being offered.

General Information

Sheppey Healthy Living Centre is located on the seafront in Sheerness within a few minutes of the town’s shops, cafes, transport and amusement arcades. The beach is just a few steps from the centre, with a cycle and foot path to Minster and eastern Sheppey.

The centre has a lively and friendly community café, as well as a paddling pool within 100m of the café. The centre has six meeting rooms available for community or commercial use; catering can be included; free wi-fi throughout.

School holiday programmes are available during school breaks – call for brochure 01795 583547 (requires pre-booking). The community radio station is located adjacent to centre; visitors always welcome to visit or even try being a radio presenter! Tourist information is available in reception; it’s just a seven minute walk to local rail (serving Sittingbourne, Dover and London) and bus services (Island services – day-time only).

The centre has full disabled access. There is plenty of parking in front of building (fee payable).

The centre offers health walks (Fridays) and a light-hearted healthy lifestyle keep fit club (Thursdays).  Other community groups meet throughout the week.

Sheppey Leisure Complex shares the same building and offers a range of sporting activities such as the Gym, Sports Hall, Squash Court & Tennis Courts all at affordable rates.  The Gym has a dedicated Weights Room, Cardio Room and Spin (RPM) room.  There are a number of different classes held at the centre such as Body Pump, Spin, Just Jhoom, Yoga and much more.
