New views, new walks and a new setting – it’s amazing what a getaway can do, whether you choose a coastal cottage, or a castle keep retreat. With so many fantastic settings and wonderful locations, Kent is perfect for a weekend break, so we’re sharing some our favourite self-catering cottages where you can relax with family and friends, and treat yourself.

Quex Livery Glamping Holidays

Set within the grounds of Quex Park, Quex Livery Glamping offers the chance to stay in a bell tent with your very own firepit, comfy bedding, electricity and even a choice of homemade cake. Set in 25 acres of countryside, we wouldn’t blame you if you chose not to leave, but The Isle of Thanet’s blue-flag awarded beaches are just up the road for the perfect seaside day out.

The Chapel

Just outside of Ramsgate, The Chapel in Manston Village is the ultimate luxury retreat this summer. The 40 foot sitting room houses squashy sofas, a full size pool table and even a baby grand, and with three en-suite bedrooms (one of which has a four poster bed), it’s the perfect place for a family getaway. While here make the most of being down the road from Ramsgate’s riviera vibes, with plenty of cafés, bars and al-fresco dining to enjoy.

Fagin’s Den

Resting in Broadstairs, Dickens’ favourite seaside setting, Fagin’s Den honours the author and one of his most iconic works. Step through the doors of the cottage and be transported to Dickensian times, with Victorian costumes to don, games to play, information about Dickens’ love of Broadstairs, and even a treasure hunt to find Fagin’s secret stash of gold! Trust us, spend a weekend here and you’ll be wanting more!

Chapel House and gardens

Chapel House Estate

Surrounded by 35 acres of rural beauty, a stay at Chapel House Estate is your chance to escape into nature. Choose from a selection of beautifully presented accommodation, including nine Hideaway Lodges with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the countryside, Chapel Cottage, the cute three-bedroomed cottage that's perfect for small groups, or the Chapel House, a 700 year- old luxury home away from home, with log burner, five bedrooms and views across the gardens.

Leeds Castle

What could be more spectacular than staying in the grounds of lovely Leeds Castle? Whether you choose the spacious Keeper’s House with its beams, inglenook, aga and exposed brickwork or the wisteria-covered Battel Hall’s sumptuous drawing rooms and oak-panelled dining room (if ever there was an excuse to dress for dinner, this is it), you and your family. But if you fancy a cosy hideaway will be in for some royal treatment. For two, it’s got to be Weir Cottage with its exposed beams, king-sized bed and firepit. And, because we know we’re not the only ones who gained a four-legged friend, we’re pleased to say it’s dog-friendly too.

Tuggers

This romantic retreat in Kingsdown is a coastal idyll, with log burner, snug and even a garden room to choose from in the evening (that’s a lot of restful spots to sit and read). The cottage has all the charm of a character property, with wood panelling and even its very own wooden boat bow outside! What’s more, this cute cottage sits on a shingle road which leads you straight onto the beach, so all you need to do is keep your fingers crossed for good swimming weather! Oh, and did we mention, this little retreat is also fido-friendly so you won’t need to worry about those puppy-dog eyes when you go away.

The Pilot’s House

200 years old and with all that cottage charm, Pilot’s House is a welcome escape from city living. Just a pebble’s throw from the beach in Deal and a minute’s walk from the vibrant town centre, this gorgeous little cottage is an ideal seaside escape for four. Whitewashed walls, original floorboards and a suntrap of a courtyard garden, this place is pure bliss.

The wide skies of Romney Marsh are the perfect antidote to any city dweller's fatigue. Switch off and unwind in one of these bespoke shepherds huts complete with kitchen, Romney Marsh lanolin toiletries and snuggly Romney sheep fleeces. Cosy up on your very own private rooftop terrace and enjoy unrivalled views to The Channel.
