The Storymakers

11th July 2026

What makes a great story? Find out as you become a Storymaker.

Create your own amazing characters, treasure hunt for story elements and then use your incredible imagination to decide how you'll put it all together in your very own book! This event is recommended for age 5+, and adults should come prepared to assist with story creation!

Tickets for this event are charged on a pay as you feel basis, starting at £2 per child and on a completely pay as you feel basis for adults, but please note that each person attending will need a ticket. All money from ticket sales supports the running, continuation and expansion of Canterbury Children's Literature Festival and our year round outreach work within the local community.

About the Storyteller Esther Ushe is a graphic designer and creativity practitioner, using her skills to bring craft and storytelling together in fabulous, creative ways! A librarian by day, she comes up with incredible ideas to inspire imagination and creativity and engage young people with stories in new ways.

Fuelled by her own experiences as a dyslexic reader, she is passionate about creating exciting opportunities for all brains!
