Storytelling Concert

12th July 2026

The Canterbury Voices explore story telling through traditional folk songs, including a range of characters from soldiers and sailors to beautiful and notorious ladies...

Recommended for all ages, enjoy storytelling in a different way in this hour-long programme in the beautiful surroundings of The Old Synagogue. Tickets for this event are charged on a pay as you feel basis, but please note that each person attending will need a ticket.

All proceeds from this event will be split between Canterbury Children's Literature Festival and the Canterbury Vocals Scholarship Fund. About the Choir The Canterbury Voices is a chamber choir for female voices. Members include local vocal tutors, singers and students and performs a wide range of repertoire from operatic overtures to close harmony jazz. Founded in 2014, the choir began as a bridge between Canterbury Christ Church University and professional musicians.

The Voices perform on a regular basis at concerts, gala dinners, conferences, weddings and charity fundraisers. The Canterbury Vocals Scholarship Fund was created in 2019 to provide financial support for young female musicians and help them to achieve their goals and ambitions in music. The primary purpose of the fund is to support several young musicians each year through financial awards to help fund additional lessons, summer schools, masterclasses and special courses or to assist with the purchase of equipment such as music software or sheet music.
