In Pink Moon Rising, singer-songwriter Alex Lewis performs Nick Drake’s final album Pink Moon in full.
Between songs, Lewis tells the story of the cult musician, sharing the little known details of his all too short life. The aim is to return the focus to the songs themselves — brilliant, intricate, mysterious, and often overshadowed Drake’s early death.
Played in the original tunings on acoustic guitar and voice, the performance recreates the stark immediacy of the record as a live experience: one musician, one instrument, and an audience close enough to hear the wood of the guitar resonate.
The second half of the evening features Lewis’s own compositions — contemporary songs influenced by the same folk tradition, offering a glimpse of how Pink Moon still echoes forward rather than remaining a relic of the past.
