How to Make a Comic

11th July 2026

Learn how to create your own graphic novel!

Author Madeleine shows how she sent Kara and her cat Sandro off to a bizarre and dangerous science park on another planet. Kara and Sandra go on a cosmological adventure together, and meet with trouble along the way.

She'll explain how you can come up with your own interstellar trip, and how to turn it into a graphic novel. Recommended age 6+ Chapters has a cafe and will be serving refreshments before and after the event. They also have level access throughout and an accessible toilet and baby changing facilities. Tickets for this event are charged at £4 per child and on a pay as you feel basis for adults, but please note that each person attending will need a ticket.

All money from ticket sales supports the running, continuation and expansion of Canterbury Children's Literature Festival and our year round outreach work within the local community. About the Author I'm curious about the world around me. As well as science, I enjoy digging into philosophy, sociology, art and literature. I'm passionate about the climate crisis, and am trying (not always successfully) to reduce my own environmental impact. It's why you might hear me talk about attempting to give up flying, failed veganism (why is cheese so delicious?), four day working weeks, expanding wild areas in the UK, and social justice. I have two cats, who are excellent and ridiculous. I expect I'll write about them someday.
