Easter at Reculver Towers

3rd April - 4th April 2026

Step back into early medieval Kent this Easter weekend as the Thegns of Mercia bring history to life at Reculver Towers and Roman Fort.

Join members of the Thegns of Mercia living history society as they demonstrate traditional crafts and skills from the 6th and 7th centuries. See coin striking, jewellery casting and weapons displays up close, and discover how the people of early medieval Kent lived, worked, and created.

It’s a chance to learn more about the bright and bustling culture of an age that was anything but “dark”. Reculver's North Tower will be open throughout the event, giving you the opportunity to see inside and climb to the top for stunning coastal views over Reculver and the surrounding landscape.

Friday 3rd & Saturday 4th April. 10.00am - 4.00pm

And our friendly volunteers will be delivering short talks across the day, sharing stories from Reculver’s long and fascinating past, from its Roman origins to its Anglo‑Saxon monastery and the centuries that followed.
