The Spitfire and Hurricane Museum is a unique site, displaying two iconic war planes, and also holding a range of objects and artefacts telling the story of life in and around Ramsgate during WWII.

Central to the display are the iconic Spitfire Mk XVI and Hawker Hurricane Mk IIc. Also on display is the original cockpit section of a genuine WW2 Lancaster Bomber.

An absolute must-visit, photography is welcome too, and best of all, it’s free!

Avro Lancaster Flight Simulator. Pilots will get the opportunity to take the controls and fly the aircraft for half an hour assisted by a volunteer 'flight engineer'. The experience costs £75 and 'pilots' will get a flight certificate featuring a side profile of the Lancaster. This is currently available Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays - Please ring to book

As well as the collection, the Museum has a small Shop and the Café serves teas, coffees and quality hot food, with an outside seating area. 

Visitors are welcome to sit on the benches in the Allied Crew Memorial Garden to relax and reflect, in an evocative atmosphere.

Visitors can also book a flight in the Spitfire Simulator.

The Spitfire Flight Experience is open, with all safety measures in place (age, size, and mobility restrictions apply).

Tickets (Gift Vouchers available from the Museum Shop) £30 for 30 minutes.

Access Information

The entrance and entire Museum are based on level ground and are fully accessible to wheelchairs and mobility scooters. Although the double-doors at the entrance are manual, help is available from Museum volunteers.

Seating areas are available in exhibition halls, and one wheelchair is available for visitor use.

There is also step-free access to the cafeteria and shop. Grounds and gardens are mostly flat, and include paved areas, paths, and benches.

An accessible unisex toilet is located with other toilets outside the cafeteria.

Two accessible parking bays are located in the large free car park close to the Museum entrance.

Assistance Dogs (trained, and on leads) are welcome.
