Arts, Culture and Entertainment

Open at weekends and Bank Holidays throughout the year, until the end of October, with lots of exciting events and activities. Please visit our What’s On page to see our latest events.

Throughout 2023 we will be continuing our re-imagining work. This includes significant building repairs to protect the Museum collection and an extensive conservation programme which will require objects to be removed from display at times. We do anticipate some Gallery closures during this work, however we will do our best to minimise the impact on our visitor experience. We know our visitors will understand the need for this work, so thanks for your support.

The Powell-Cotton Museum offers an exciting, fun and interactive day out for all. There are incredible natural history displays, featuring animals from the African and Asian continents in world-famous dioramas. There are also fascinating displays of world-culture objects as well as local archaeology.

Ticket price includes a tour of the Grade II listed Quex House *, formerly home to the Powell-Cotton family. The interior of the house is uniquely decorated with ornamental furniture, art and a beautiful library. The Gardens are set in seven acres and feature sweeping lawns, herbaceous borders, exotic trees, a woodland walk, and a historic walled kitchen garden.

You are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy in the Gardens. Please take your rubbish home with you.

Our Gift Shop stocks delicious ice cream and cold drinks.

Café: The family-run Felicity's Café, located at the front of the Museum, offers delicious breakfasts, afternoon tea and lunch. All their cakes are freshly baked on site. Indoor and outdoor seating available, but pre-booking is advised.

Museum Opening Times: Saturday 11th February - Sunday 29th October 2023 at weekends and Bank Holidays. Opening times may vary on event days or Bank Holidays so please check before visiting.

* House open for guided tours only. Times announced on the day.
