Make your day out even more special when you book one of our exciting experiences!  Meet your favourite animals up close and find out how your visit is helping us to save rare and endangered animals.

There are a wide variety of experience days, suitable for different age groups...

Keeper for a Day

Become a Keeper for a Day at Howletts Wild Animal Park or Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve and find out what it really takes to be one of the team!

  • Keeper For a Day (18+)
Join the team and become a Keeper for a Day - get close to some of the world's most rare and endangered animals as you assist their keepers in their daily activities - cleaning, feeding, health checks, preparing enclosures, making enrichment toys to entertain the animals and generally getting your hands dirty!
  • Keeper Academy (13-17yrs)
The Keeper Academy offers young people the chance to become a trainee keeper in a hands-on and educational experience. A typical day will involve studying animal observation, cleaning out enclosures, food preparation and feeding, learning the principles of enclosure design and enrichment, captive breeding and conservation with our expert keeping staff.
  • Junior Ranger (7-12yrs)
Perfect for animal mad kids and budding Attenboroughs! This amazing experience offers young animal lovers a very real opportunity to get behind the scenes by having a guided VIP tour of the park with an expert ranger.

Animal Encounters

Get even closer to your favourite animal on a 30 minute animal encounter!  Join one of our expert keepers as they introduce you to the animal of your choice – learn interesting facts, feed where possible and enjoy behind the scenes access as you immerse yourself in our amazing animal world.

Safari Experiences at Port Lympne Reserve

Visit the savannah – right here in Kent! Choose from a selection of unique ranger guided safaris where zebra, wildebeest, ostrich, and many more animals roam free across the Kentish countryside, with stunning views to the Kent coastline.
