Experiences at the Romney Marsh Shepherd's Huts

Links Location Times Pricing

Choose from a variety of experiences during your stay at the Romney Marsh Shepherd's Huts...

Felting Workshop

In the cosy and calm environment of your Shepherds Hut, reclaim the benefits of reconnecting with nature as you gain an introduction to natural dyeing and learn about the myriad of colours that can be obtained from plants. Then using pre-dyed wool from the Romney sheep on the farm, you will be guided through the craft of needle felting to create your very own beautiful felted decorations and creations to take home.

A truly immersive experience in traditional handcrafting that is both therapeutic and rewarding, leave with a new skill and all the tools and inspiration to carry on at home.

Workshops are available to book throughout the year, with different options to suit every season!

All levels warmly welcomed though felting needles are extremely sharp so this experience is not suitable for children under 10.

Alpaca Trekking

Fancy a day out with alpacas? These docile and therapeutic animals love socialising and trekking (along with carrots, of course).

Situated just 10 minutes drive from Romney Marsh Shepherds Huts, Alpaca Annie offers the chance to take a trek with their alpacas, or take part in one of their 'meet & greet' sessions.  There's also a gorgeous tea room on site, Fennel Coffee Shop, offering fresh sandwiches, cakes, coffees, afternoon teas & cream tea boxes.

Treks run at 10am & 1pm every day (except Monday) and are £25 per person with an alpaca (must be over 14 years old), £8.50 to walk alongside and £6.50 for children.

Brewery Tour and Tastings at The Old Dairy Brewery

Old Dairy Brewery is situated in Tenterden, just a short drive from Romney Marsh Shepherds Huts.

They have a "Pint & a Pie/Scotch Egg" offer in their beautiful tap room, available during their normal opening hours.  There's no need to book, but you will need to pre-purchase your voucher, simply email fineale@olddairybrewery.com or buy online and your vouchers will be sent out to you.

For those wishing to learn a little more, why not book on to one of their Brewery Tour & Tastings which include a guided tour of the brewery and then a chance to sample their beers in the tap room.  These are priced at £15 per person and must be booked in advance - find out more and book at https://olddairybrewery.com/brewery-tours

Photography Lessons

Passionate about teaching and with a background in secondary teaching as head of photography and currently as an Art & Design manager in further education, Casey also runs popular Art Clubs for children and adults all around the area. When she isn’t teaching Casey continues to engage in community art projects and explore traditional art making methods within photography and ecology - keeping the more traditional side of the art form alive!

* Learn to take better photos with your DSLR from the comfort of the Shepherd huts and the spectacular views of the Romney Marsh. Priced at £25 pp for a 2.5 hour lesson.
* Or spend a day learning analogue and camera less techniques such as cyanotypes and Lumen printing at Casey’s studio in nearby Evegate. Priced at £60 pp, all equipment and lunch is included.

Marsh Jeep Safaris & e-bike Hire

Our Marsh safaris will take you through the beautiful scenery of the Romney Marsh to discover the variety of flora and fauna that it offers; the deer, ponies, rare birds, flowering plants and much more! You’ll be taken to historical sites, the birthplace of local legends, and other points of interest, all the while in the safe care of our knowledgeable guides. There’s no better way to experience the breadth of what the Romney Marsh has to offer with our longest established safari business!

For those keen to get out in the fresh air, one of the best ways to explore the Romney Marsh is by bike, taking in the sights you just don't get the chance to see when travelling by car.  Whether you want to enjoy a coastal ride or take in the beautiful Kent countryside we are surrounded by, there are so many routes to take.
