About The Big Cat Sanctuary

Tucked into the peaceful Kent countryside, The Big Cat Sanctuary is a globally recognised conservation charity dedicated to protecting wild cats. Its work is vital in saving some of the planet’s most endangered and iconic species from extinction.

Recognised as the world’s only dedicated IUCN Centre for Species Survival for wild cats, the Sanctuary has been safeguarding these incredible animals for over 25 years. Everything it does is guided by five pillars of purpose: Welfare, Breeding, Education, Conservation and Rescue. Its rescue work has been life-changing for wild cats, including five lions saved from war-torn Ukraine between 2024 and 2025.

The team provides exceptional cat care alongside ethical, sustainable and accessible visitor experiences that bring guests closer to the cats and their wild cousins. The Sanctuary also proudly contributes to accredited global breeding programmes and works with conservation partners to improve animal welfare worldwide.

Visitors can support the Sanctuary in many ways, whether by becoming a member, staying in one of its lodges, enjoying an exclusive experience, attending an event or making a donation. Every contribution helps fund expert care for the cats and supports vital conservation work to protect wild cats for generations to come.

The Big Cat Sanctuary exists to inspire generations to act for every wild cat.
