About Penshurst Place & Gardens

One of Kent's Best Historic Houses, Penshurst Place and Gardens provides history, beauty and family activities and entertainment throughout its open season.

Built in 1341 and still standing today, Penshurst Place's magnificent Baron's Hall is one of few surviving medieval halls in England. Since then it has passed through hands of nobility and royalty, including King Henry VIII, until 1552 when it was taken over by the Sidney family. It has been in their safe hands ever since.

Now adjoining the hall is a further collection of staterooms, a fascinating Toy Museum, acres of beautiful formal gardens, an Adventure Playground, Gift Shop, Cafe and 2,500 acres of wider parkland, criss-crossed by public footpaths waiting to be explored.

With a calendar full of family events, special workshops, storytelling, crafts, and so much more, Penshurst Place is the home that keeps on giving.
