About City of Rochester Society

The City of Rochester Society was founded in 1967 to help conserve the historic City as a pleasant place to visit. Today the Society is as active as ever, helping to improve the environment and quality of life in Rochester for residents and visitors alike. Since its formation, the Society has been active in many ways to the benefit of Rochester and its people. See Rochester's wealth of historic buildings and hear about the city's long and fascinating history from an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. The Society conducts open tours on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from the first Saturday in April until the end of October, plus all bank holidays, the Christmas Market weekends, and during the Dickensian Christmas festival. The tours are approximately 90 minutes in duration and commence at 2.15 pm. During the Christmas Dickensian festival we conduct additional 45 minute open tours at 10.45 am. These tours are free but donations are welcome to the society's registered charity. The Society also offers booked tours for groups, and charges can be viewed on our website (city-of-rochester.org.uk). All tours start outside The Huguenot Museum at 95 High Street, Rochester, Kent.
