The Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar was founded in 2011 with the purpose of restoring a single Spitfire. Since then it has restored six spitfires to an airworthy condition and now has a squadron’s worth on site. Close access to Spitfires has previously only been available to a lucky few, but now you can take a tour of the facility and see what goes into putting a Spitfire back in the air, how they are maintained and what is involved in their day to day running.
The hangar also contains a Hurricane, Harvard, Piper Cub and Messerschmitt 109e. We also provide flights in our 2 seater Spitfires so there is no greater concentration of Spitfire activity anywhere in the world, and it’s all located at historic Biggin Hill airfield, a key sector station in the Battle of Britain.
