Active and Outdoors

Set in the gentle rolling fields of the beautiful Kent countryside, Aspens is based in Pembury, just outside the centre of Tunbridge Wells. Aspens Charities mission is to provide high quality care and support to individuals on the autism spectrum and with learning disabilities; meeting their needs and aspirations and empowering them to learn and grow through an integrated network of services across the South-East.

The charity’s Pembury site on Cornford Lane, which is partially open to the public, has a café, animals, an outdoor gym, play area and a beautiful woodland walk. Aspens welcomes visitors and families to this little corner of unspoilt High Weald countryside, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Come and say hello to our animals which include pigs, donkeys, guinea pigs and goats; or just relax with a coffee and a slice of cake while the kids enjoy the children’s woodland play area. The Charity ask all visitors to be mindful that their site is at the heart of the living area of many of the people they support, some of whom work in and use the cafe and help care for the animals. It is also a working site used by Aspens' care, maintenance and office staff. Access is free, but donations to the charity are very welcome, with collection pots situated on the site, or online at www.aspens.org.uk

Discover the Cross-Channel Geopark

The Cross-Channel Geopark is the world's first transnational geopark to span a body of water, linking the chalk landscapes of Kent with those of northern France in one continuous geological story. From the White Cliffs of Dover and the Kent Downs to the dramatic cliffs of Cap Blanc-Nez, the same chalk layers, fossils, and flint bands run beneath the Strait of Dover, connecting two countries that were once, quite literally, joined.

The Isle of Sheppey - Where the wild coast begins

There is nowhere quite like The Isle of Sheppey and Faversham. Wild marshes stretch to the horizon. Seals haul out on mudflats within sight of the shore. The beaches are long, sweeping and blissfully quiet; the skies enormous.
