Secret Lab: Light Fantastic at The Historic Dockyard Chatham
10th February - 25th February 2018
Have you ever wondered why red light is used in submarines? Doc. Yard’s able assistant Bunsen is back from Saturday 10th until Sunday 25th February 2018 with all things Light Fantastic in a fun and interactive 45-minute experience at The Historic Dockyard Chatham.
2018 marks The Historic Dockyard Chatham’s 400th birthday and Secret Lab: Light Fantastic, will kick off a fun-packed season of events, talks, exhibitions and activities.
With 4 zones of interactive fun, there’s something for everyone! Be careful not to be fooled by the optical illusions as you walk through – that bridge on the floor is quite high up! Learn about reflections in a room of mirrors followed by the scientific magic of lasers making balloons burst! Explore the use of light in submarines, not forgetting looking at periscopes too!
Don’t miss the splat zone, where mixing paint colours shows just how Thomas Edison invented the light bulb. Step into a UV zone and see whether anything you’re wearing shows up! Maybe something you use every day will!?
So grab your lab coat and glasses upon arrival and join us for some Light Fantastic fun at The Historic Dockyard Chatham this February Half-Term.
