Members of The Orchestra of Syrian Musicians

Music for Change and Gulbenkian are delighted to bring Members of The Orchestra of Syrian Musicians to Canterbury as part of a series of concerts celebrating music from across the globe on Saturday 23rd March at 8:00pm. Following the joyous 2016 reunion of The Orchestra of Syrian Musicians, many members of this incredible orchestra have been unable to return home - and some have settled in the UK. As a result of the on-going conflict, many Syrian musicians have had to start over in new, unfamiliar countries. We are very lucky to have a small group of these incredible musicians with us, and they are excited to share their beautiful, uplifting music with Canterbury. Their vibrant performances of Arabic music aim to highlight and celebrate the remarkable music culture of Syria, providing a more positive perspective than events seen in the news.

Join this intimate group of incredible musicians, who will share both traditional and modern compositions from Syria, in an unforgettable evening on musicianship and song, in celebration of a loved and much-missed homeland.

“Entertaining and emotional” – Robin Denslow, The Guardian.
