Medway Big Ride and HSBC UK| National Circuit Championships

This historic cobbled streets of Rochester will be taken over by bikes on Sunday 21 July as Medway plays host to some of the nation’s top professional riders.
British Cycling has chosen Rochester as the destination for the HSBC UK | National Circuit Championships 2019, one of the highlights of the national road racing calendar for the UK’s top elite male and female riders.
The riders will race on a looping 1.6km course around the heart of Rochester, starting and finishing on the Esplanade.
Previous winners of the race include World and Olympic champions.
To celebrate hosting this exciting event, Medway Council is staging the Medway Big Ride Festival, giving the people of Medway and visiting cycling enthusiasts and invited club riders the chance to ride on the race route and enjoy a festival celebrating all things two wheeled.
An event village will open in Rochester Castle Gardens from 12pm offering activities for cycling enthusiasts and families alike including:
- a pump track
- stunt shows
- British Cycling Go Ride
- Ready Set Ride skills
- Big screen showing the Tour de France
- trade stalls, food and much more
From 2.30pm-3.30pm, registered riders will be able to ride on the course in a mass participation Big Ride. For more information and to register from 21 May onwards, visit medway.gov.uk/bigride
Spectators will then be able to line the route to support the elite riders. The women’s race is from 5pm-5.45pm and the men’s race from 6.30pm-7pm.
