Margate Soul Festival is the UK’s signature soul event held annually on the first weekend of August and this year celebrates 20 years of soul & sunshine by the sea in a regenerated Margate. It is unique, being the only town centre festival in the UK, offering both ticketed and non ticketed events attracting over 20,000 per day to it’s variety of stages. Over the years it has grown steadily, until in 2015, when the partnership with Gordon Mac and the team at Mi-Soul Radio turned it into a worldwide phenomenon, attracting festival goers from all over the world.
Our main outdoor arena ‘The Sunset Stage’ overlooking the sea, provides the backdrop to 3 days of live music, DJs and dancing, whilst The Margate Winter Gardens and Olby’s Soul Cafe offer 6 rooms of music for thousands of happy people throughout the weekend and the free stages placed around the Old Town give it a community and carnival feel.

The line-up for the 20th Anniversary festival brings together top-quality artists from the last 4 decades including a very special Sunset Stage performance from internationally-renowned British singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé who has in January released her latest single ‘Brighter Days’

The weekend kicks off on Friday 5th August with performances from USA songstress Melba Moore and “Native New Yorkers” Odyssey.

Then on Saturday, 90s Chicago House Legends Ten City double headline with ‘Defected Records’ Julie McKnight.

The event reaches a climax on Sunday, with a Sunset Stage headline performance from Emeli Sande & finale party live performances from The Brand New Heavies,
Loose Ends and ‘Lovers Rock Queen’ Carroll Thompson.

Add to this the ever-popular singer-songwriter, house, jazz and soul vocalist, Juliet Roberts who will curate an exclusive performance, celebrating the life of Aretha Franklin and new UK modern soul band SouLutions headed by Louise Mehan, making this another year of superb live performances alongside some of the UK’s biggest DJ talent.
