This one-day workshop will introduce you to the art of silk screen printing. You will learn different printing techniques to produce one-off and repeat prints and take those skills away with you to carry on printing at home.
You will begin the morning session by taking inspiration from Belmont House and Gardens and learning about the basic principles of screen printing by experimenting with paper cut stencils which produce bold and effective prints. Then in the afternoon, you will move onto setting up a screen using a blocking fluid technique to produce a more detailed print that can be reproduced multiple times.
You will have 1m of fabric plus a canvas tote bag to print onto. Please bring an apron or painting shirt, a packed lunch and a sketch book and pencils. You are also welcome to bring ideas with you in the form of photos, magazines, drawings, books, wallpaper, fabric swatches etc. Suitable for beginners or as a refresher course.
£50.00pp all materials, printing equipment and refreshments are supplied.
Print workshops and courses are run by Rachel Moore, a Kent based artist and printmaker who has been running workshops for children and adults since 2005, so you’ll be in safe hands!
