Faversham Society (Saturday) Open House

Saturday: July 6th, 13th and 20th

This year is the 50th Anniversary of the Faversham societies 'Open House' event, with over 50 properties on view some of which are not normally open to the public and such a varied selection there will be something to suit everyone.

There are plenty of new properties to view for those who are regular visitors and old favourites such as the old Pharmacy Courtyard which was featured in the very first Open House in 1969. With such a diverse selection of properties you will be at a loss as where to start, private houses, public buildings (parts of which are only open occasionally), churches and new this year The Oare Gunpowder Works Country Park which is registered as an ancient monument and not forgetting the SB Repertor a handsome Thames sailing barge. In addition, new this year is the South East Coachworks, specialists in bus and coach refurbishment and restoration some of which are for film sets and music festivals.

Plenty to enjoy with this chance to visit the historic buildings and lovely private houses in this ancient market town.

The handbook is fascinating it gives the reader an insight into these historic buildings and houses and how they have evolved over the years.
