If you love a steam train experience, you can choose from some amazing and affordable dining experiences to enjoy with family and friends on the Spa Valley Railway in Tunbridge Wells.
New this summer is the addition of a specially adapted accessible carriage to make it easier for those with reduced mobility to also enjoy travelling on the railway as the carriage is wheelchair friendly. General Manager at the railway, Jonnie Pay says: “Recently entering service, the new carriage is a converted 1960s Mark 1 carriage which is now capable of carrying three standard wheelchair users in the passenger saloon.
The carriage was restored by our talented volunteers from the ground up and cost many thousands of pounds before it was ready enter service on our railway. The carriage can be book in advance of travel and for the dining experiences by sending an e-mail to railway.” The railway has added to its dining experiences this year as revenue generated from these events are essential for raising funds to operate the railway for all to enjoy.

Afternoon Tea at the Spa Valley Railway combines the elegance of steam train travel with a delightful afternoon tea experience. Carly’s Afternoon Teas provide passengers with a wonderful selection of freshly prepared finger sandwiches, scones, cakes, and a choice of teas. Why not order a bottle of prosecco at the time of booking to enjoy with your afternoon tea! The cost is £38 for adults, children are £24 and children under 2 are free.
Available on selected dates from 14 August to 27 October 2024. Join one of the popular Murder Mystery evenings on board a steam train which includes a fish and chip supper. The entertaining evening is all about helping to solve a murder which took place in the sleepy little Cornish village of Morlington Hill during the 1940s! Can you help solve the murder over a few drinks and fish and chips on board a steam train?
There’s a prize if you can guess whodunnit! Available on selected dates from 10 August to 2 November 2024. £55 per adult. Enjoy a Fish & Chip Supper and a slice of cake on 30 August or 21 September 2024. Adults are £25 and Children £20. On special gala days these evenings are usually combined with a Real Ale Train. The Cream Tea experience is a delightful way to spend an afternoon enjoying a sultana scone with clotted cream, jam and of course tea! Available from 26 August to 13 October 2024. A Taste of: Faulty Towers - The Dining Experience! Straight from London’s West End via the legendary Sydney Opera House, this international sensation has been specially adapted to be performed on a moving steam train. Become part of the action as Basil, Sybil and Manuel serve up mayhem on a moving steam train alongside a 3-course meal, and two hours of laughter. Expect nothing short of guaranteed fun as you climb aboard and climb inside the BBC's iconic TV show and experience it from the inside out… this completely immersive and highly interactive experience is a comedy spectacular where anything can happen… and usually does! Available to book between 24 August to 12 October Adults £89.50.
Combine a stream train ride and some amazing English wine on the Wildwood Vineyard Wine Tasting & Train Ride which is available in August and September 2024. Just a short 7-minute walk from Eridge Station is the idyllic Wildwood Vineyard. The railway has teamed up with the vineyard to offer travel by train to Eridge, followed by a short walk to the vineyard to take part in wine tasting before returning to Eridge and taking the train back to Tunbridge Wells West. Cheese lovers will enjoy the Kent Cheese Train experience which includes a return trip on the railway and the opportunity to enjoy a selection of local cheeses through a partnership with the The Cheese Shop, Tunbridge Wells. Each table will have a selection box with four different cheeses with chutney and crackers. Passengers can choose a drink of their choice when booking.

Jump on board The Kent Gin Train and enjoy a unique gin tasting experience with three different gins from Anno Distillers of Marden, Kent. To enhance the gin tasting experience there will be ice provided along with a selection of dried fruits to garnish gins together with a complimentary Fever-Tree Indian tonic water.
Mix your gins up suit your taste in a branded Spa Valley Railway gin glass which is yours to take home. Adults £35 and the experience is available to book on selected dates from 10 August to 26 October 2024. The Kent Whisky Train experience brings together steam train travel and some incredible whiskies from Kent based Copper Rivet Distillery! The train will depart from Tunbridge Wells West for a return trip to Eridge and along the way everyone can enjoy three different whiskies. To enhance your whisky tasting experience ice is provided together with a complimentary Fever-Tree mixer. Mix your whiskies to suit your taste in the branded Spa Valley Railway whisky glass which can be taken home after the event.
A selection of tasty canapés will also be served and the experience including train travel. Adults £40. Tickets are also valid for train travel all day on the day of the experience so passengers can remain on board after their dining event, but as there may be other experiences taking place passengers may be required to sit in another part of the train.
