Deal Festival 2019

Deal Music & Arts sets the standard for innovative and excellent programming in Kent with artists of the international calibre of Steven Isserlis, Freddy Kempf and Tim Garland. It presents world-class period instrument ensembles Academy of Ancient Music and Florilegium, and the great jazz organisations Ronnie Scott’s Big Band and National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Great Britain. Deal Music & Arts brings to life everything from 2018 Opus Klassik Award winners Ora Singers (in a programme of Italian masterworks including Allegri’s Miserere), to contemporary music performed by Rolf Hind onward to live film scores created by Minima (Nosferatu). You can hear J.S. Bach’s complete Brandenburg Concertos on period instruments or explore the evolution of the keyboard from early clavichord to the most recent innovations such as the Magnetic Resonator Piano and TouchKeys, or you could revisit Switched On Bach with Art of Moog. You can enjoy very special venues with Shakespeare at Walmer Castle, contemporary dance in Deal Castle, the celebrated photography of Tony Nandi in Linden Hall Studio and rising stars Dinara Klinton (piano), Jonathan Radford (saxophone) and Castalian Quartet.

There is fun for all the family with free outdoor events where you can hear orchestras, choirs and big bands, enjoy picnics and even have your face painted! Why not visit Betteshanger Country Park for an Environment Day where you can create music from recycled materials, enjoy a ‘sound bath’ with guided meditation or find out about foraging.. Deal Music & Arts Festival 2019 aims high – as ever!
