Spring life
As the trees blossom and the spring bulbs burst into life, the patter of many little feet can be heard. Head to Kent this spring to see the countryside waking up, and the fields full of young life. Great value attractions make Kent a favourite destination for families, and with a wealth of outdoor venues and farms to visit, now is the perfect time to bring the kids and introduce them to Kent's baby animals!
See the kids have wide-eyed fun while they learn, coming face to face with rare and endangered species at Howletts & Port Lympne Wild Animal Parks, sister locations at Bekesbourne and Lympne. This spring Howletts are looking forward to welcoming many baby animals including clouded leopards, wolves, an elephant calf, and possibly even a tiger! At Port Lympne you can see late spring wildebeest and baby roan antelope.
Step back in time to discover 16th - 20th century rural life in Kent at the Museum of Kent Life and meet the new members of their farmyard; pigs, sheep, goats, horses, cows, rabbits, and chickens.
Set in 400 acres of unspoilt Kent countryside, the Hop Farm welcomes the arrival of Easter chicks and lambs this spring. Daily encounters are held with llamas, baby reindeer, sheep and ducks. Kids can also burn off energy in the play parks and the new Treejumpers, an aerial skypark.
Down on the farm - Farming World at Faversham, to be exact - you can meet friendly farm animals, including piglets, lambs and baby rabbits, magnificent Shire horses and birds of prey, then relax while the youngsters let off steam in adventure playgrounds.
The Rare Breeds Farm Park, Woodchurch, also combines animal encounters, such as feeding the newborn lambs, with energy-sapping activities, including aerial runways and a play fort.
Come nose to nose with British wildlife at Wildwood, near Herne Bay. Here you can you see all kinds of animals that used to roam our lands and those that are increasingly rare, from wolves to water voles. Harriet, Wildwood's wild boar, has just produced a litter of boarlets, and over the coming months baby red squirrels, deer and polecats are expected.
