Ramsgate Festival of Sound

Ramsgate Festival has undergone a radical refresh this year, organisers Ramsgate Arts have announced.

The inaugural Ramsgate Festival of Sound will dovetail with Ramsgate Week from 21st July to deliver a series of talks and events culminating in a packed weekend of sound installations, music and much, much more.

The growing line-up is truly impressive, featuring Ramsgate’s sound artist Filipe Gomes; Emmy Award-winning musician and composer Michael J McEvoy; international artist Gary Perkins; BAFTA-nominated composer, conductor, producer and musician Simon Boswell, award winning sound artist Emily Peasgood and musical director and consultant Gemma Dempsey among those already confirmed.

For the third year Terry Prue has assembled a series of talks to provide a historical underpinning to the Festival activities- 'Ramsgate Reflections' runs all week

Installations will take place in various sites including the Sound of Wartime and Gagarin in the Ramsgate Tunnels, Filipe Gomes’ beautiful and moving installation on the Steam Tug Cervia. The festival is also delighted to announce Requiem for Cross Bones kindly on loan from the Tate Modern which is a first for Ramsgate.

No sound festival would be complete without music and there will be three music stages including Jazz at the Italianate Greenhouse, the East Cliff bandstand and a main music stage at the harbour.
