Big Day Out - Student Involvement
Tourism is an exciting industry, and Visit Kent aims to involve young people as much as possible in its activities to give them a taste of working within the industry, and to support their learning. Many tourism students study modules such as Event Management, Marketing and Customer Service, and taking part in an event such as the Big Day Out gives them valuable experience. Their support of the event not only helps Visit Kent's research objectives, but also the attractions at which they are placed, as they can offer support in delivering customer service on the day, or obtaining vital customer feedback on the attraction itself.
This was the second year of the Big Day Out and for student involvement from Mid Kent College and Canterbury College, and we would like to thank them for their invaluable support over the last two years. This year we were happily joined by Thanet College and their students and lecturers who have leapt into the event with great enthusiasm. Thanet also kindly offered their hospitality for the Big Day Out Review Meeting on 12th June 2008, and the reports presented at this meeting will be posted on the website in due course.
Particular thanks must be given to Canterbury College whose team of Higher Education students have processed all of the attractions' questionnaires from the whole of Kent, no mean task!
Visit Kent would welcome approaches from any other Colleges or Universities who would like to help out with the event. Please call Tracey Parker on 01227 862792 or email prideinkent@kent.gov.uk
