New Romney Country Fayre
28th July 2018
The award-winning New Romney Country Fayre is the largest free event on Romney Marsh, attracting over 7,000 visitors annually. It takes place on St Martin's Field and the adjoining Fairfield Road Recreation Ground. The day begins at 10.15 with a huge and colourful carnival parade through New Romney High Street, featuring over 300 participants and includes 3 bands. The theme for this year's parade is "The Seaside" and trophies are awarded to winners in each parade category.
The parade kicks off a full day of entertainment and displays in 2 arenas, including The Southern Golden Retriever Display Team, Pedal Power versus Parjour, the Blue Falcons Gymnastic Display Team and a falconry display. The Fayre is very family friendly and also features traditional children's races with medals for the winners. There are over 100 stalls selling crafts, produce and gifts, as well as fundraising stalls by local organisations. There is a wide range pf catering outlets.
Free parking available, but why not leave the car at home and catch one of the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway's Country Fayre Specials from Hythe and Romney Sands, which reach New Romney in time for the parade.
