Available throughout September 2015. Britain’s oldest brewer, Shepherd Neame, had teamed up with Kent Life, heritage farm park to bring alive the County’s hop growing tradition with a special joint visit package available throughout September 2015 to coincide with the hop picking season. Groups will join an award-winning Brewery Tour and go behind the scenes at Shepherd Neame including a tutored tasting of several ales and lagers. Groups then head to Kent Life – a heritage farm park, celebrating the rural history of the county. Here they will take a tractor tour of the site where and discover the historic houses and meet the farm animals. Then they will visit the Oast House and Hop Garden, planted with Fuggle and Goldings hops, both traditional Kentish varieties from the late 19th Century. Magna Carta Rediscovered and Britain’s Oldest Brewer. The tour includes coffee on arrival, a Brewery Tour, tutored tasting, lunch and timed admission to Magna Carta Rediscovered. Joining an award-winning guided tour, groups will discover the fascinating history and heritage of Shepherd Neame and see how hand crafted ales and specialty lagers are brewed. This will be followed by an enlightening tutored tasting of some of the country’s finest ales and a two course lunch. Groups will then follow in Chaucer’s merry band’s footsteps and journey to the cathedral city of Canterbury to experience the Canterbury Tales, which brings to life five of Chaucer’s famous stories. Arrive at Shepherd Neame – Britain’s oldest brewer – at 11am for a guided tour and tutored tasting, followed by lunch in the Visitor Centre Bar.  Depart at 2pm for Biddenden Vineyards – Kent’s oldest commercial vineyard – and enjoy a guided tour through the vineyard and winery with a glass of wine and the opportunity to taste the wines, ciders and juices.

Arrive at Biddenden Vineyards at 11.30am for a guided tour of the vineyard and tastings of the award winning wines, ciders and juices followed by a Ploughman’s platter served with Winterdale cheese, local ham and a glass of wine.  At 1.30pm depart for Winterdale cheesemakers, for a guided tour of the dairy & cave, followed by cheese tastings and a Kentish cream tea.

Arrive at Hythe for a ride on the train departing at 10.20am for New Romney. At New Romney there is plenty of time to visit the Railway Museum or have a cup of tea. From New Romney to Biddenden your coach will take you through some delightful Kentish scenery. On arrival at Biddenden at 12.45pm you will be treated to a Ploughman’s Platter and a glass of wine. Then it’s time for a guided tour of the vineyard and the chance to taste and buy some of the excellent wines and ciders produced at the vineyard.
