Links Courses
Play golf on Kent's championship coast, home to some of the most challenging and testing courses in the world. The world-class links courses here have hosted many a famous visitor and major international competition, like The Open Golf Championship, returning in 2011 to Royal St George's near Sandwich. With the other championship links courses in Kent - Royal Cinque Ports, Prince's, Littlestone and North Foreland - all enjoy spectacular channel views across to France. When it comes to golf, Kent's coast is the sporting mecca of golf.
City courses
Surrounding the historic city of Canterbury are a range of city golf courses. A former home to Lord Kitchener, Broome Park offers the best of old and new, heritage and culture with their 18 hole championship length golf course. Canterbury Golf Club, set within glorious woodland, has some of the prettiest sets of holes in the county. While Boughton Golf Course has something for golfers of all abilities, whether it is the driving range, Par 3 academy course or the practice area to perfect your bunker shots. The city itself is the perfect place for golf widows with attractions, spas, shopping, restaurants and cafes to keep them busy while you sink a few putts.
Countryside courses
If you're looking for courses in Kent's outstanding coutryside, Leeds Castle has a nine hole course with many attractive water hazards, set against the backdrop of the beautiful medieval castle. Golfers brave enough can even challenge themselves to clear the castle's moat on the scenic seventh hole. The picturesque setting of Hever Castle is also an inspiring to swing your seven iron with an 18 hole championship course and a shorter nine hole course. The par three 12th hole has even been likened to the 12th at America's famous Augusta National!
If you want to play and stay in Kent while treating your golfing widow to a spa break, try the Tudor Park Marriott Hotel in Bearsted, near Maidstone, or the recently opened 'Eastwell 9' golf course at Eastwell Manor.
