Herne Bay
A few miles east of Whitstable, Herne Bay's beaches, brightly coloured beach huts and interesting Victorian architecture combine to form the backdrop for an arts scene which centres on the Bay Art Gallery where there are regular exhibitions of local artists' work.
The Herne Bay Museum and Gallery is another venue for the arts.
From 1st May to 26 June 2010 an exhibition featuring film, illustration, photography, poetry and textiles will illustrate everyday good news stories as told by local people as part of the We All Do Good Things project.
In August each year the Herne Bay Festival provides free family-friendly activities and entertainment including live music, street performance, creative commissions and cultural treats. It takes place from 21st-29th August in 2010.
Linking the 3 towns of Faversham, Whitstable and Herne Bay with the cathedral city of Canterbury is the East Kent Open House, a creative trail that takes place in October during the Canterbury Festival and Kent Coastal Week. Visitors can meet local artists in their studios and homes and learn about their work and have the opportunity to take home a unique souvenir.
