Background

Located at the northern end of the White Cliffs, the pretty village of Kingsdown nestles within the Kent Downs Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the heritage coast - a dramatic landscape dominated by vast horizons of sea and sky.

A perfect spot to rest and enjoy the sights as the rolling, open countryside allow iconic landmarks such as Dover Castle, the South Foreland Lighthouse and the cliff-top Memorial to the Dover Patrol to stand out. And don't miss out on the amazing panoramic views over the Channel.

The beaches, cliffs and surrounding Downs are a wildlife haven for migrating birds, insects and rare plants. The cliffs support a variety of maritime plants found on chalk such as rock samphire, rock sea-lavender and thrift, and in places, the rare hoary stock. In the chalk grassland at the top of the cliffs and on the Downs you will see a variety of orchids, wild cabbage and even the endangered oxtongue broomrape

The village is in two parts with the pretty former fishermen's cottages located on the pebble beach and the picturesque old hamlet winding its way up the hill. If you are looking for refreshments there is plenty of choice with three pubs - two of which are on the beach - and a tea room.
