Dover Castle

The King's bedroom in the Great Tower

Step inside the Great Tower at Dover Castle and immerse yourself in the medieval world of King Henry II, authentically re-created showing how it may have appeared when newly built during the 1180s. Journey through richly furnished chambers filled with hundreds of finely crafted objects and learn about life in the Great Tower as you encounter the colourful characters from the royal court.

Travel deep into the chalk cliffs through the Wartime Tunnels. Take an inclusive audio tour through the labyrinth of tunnels where wartime personnel were stationed during World War II. See the underground hospital and walk through the underground rooms which served as the nerve centre for ‘Operation Dynamo' where Vice Admiral Ramsay and Sir Winston Churchill planned the evacuation of Dunkirk.

Before you leave, take a brisk walk around the battlements, with their fine views out to sea.
