Walking
Stretch your legs and your imagination walking the world famous White Cliffs of Dover. Over 80 million years of geology beneath your feet, with rare flora and fauna and ravishing views across the English Channel.
The White Cliffs Country is home to a number of walking routes that suit all abilities - why not try the South Forelands Lighthouse Walk and visit the lighhouse built in 1843 and used for the first radio navigations. Or if it is hertiage you are interested in then the Walmer Castle to Deal Castle Walk is ideal for a gentle stroll, as well as visiting the English Heritage properties.
Also in White Cliffs Country is Samphire Hoe country park, a wildlife haven reclaimed from the sea. Follow secluded footpaths, spot rare flowers and birds, linger over a picnic! Cycling
Enjoy the largely traffic-free, seven-mile Crab & Winkle Way named after the old ‘Crab and Winkle' railway line. Stop for a picnic along the way or treat yourself in Whitstable to some of the tasty seafood!
Coast to Cathedral is a circular route linking Dover, Folkestone and Canterbury. Leaving the stunning views of Dover Castle behind, and join the quiet country lanes into the traditional villages of East Kent, before you arrive at inspirational city of Canterbury.
Pedal the Chalk and Channel Way between the Dover-Folkestone Hertiage Coast and take breath of the artwork en route along the top of the famous White Cliffs. It links the harbours of Dover and Folkestone and travels through areas of great beauty and historical significance.
