Port Lympne Reserve

Port Lympne Reserve Offers Extraordinary Days Out Full Of Animal Adventures

Port Lympne Reserve, one of Kent’s most popular and award winning visitor attractions offers extraordinary  days out, full of animal adventures. The Reserve, near Ashford is home to over 700 rare and endangered species and is now Europe’s first animal focused holiday destination, offering visitors a variety of short break accommodations.

Visitors to Port Lympne throughout 2017 can discover where the wild things are and see the UK’s largest herd of black rhino, Kent’s only spectacled bears, big cats, small cats, primates, western lowland gorillas and more.  Plus, travel back in time to the forest that time forgot, to see life sized and anatomically correct models, in the UK’s largest exhibit of prehistoric creatures - Dinosaur Forest.

Dinosaur Forest, opened in 2016, allows visitors the opportunity to come face to face with the terrifying T Rex, marvel at the mighty mammoth, see soaring Pterodactyls and delight at the sheer size of the Diplodocus.   This year, new creatures will be added to the growing collection, including a life sized Spinosaurus, measuring an impressive 18 meters long!  With the addition of the free Port Lympne app, available on IOS phones, visitors will also be able to watch some of the creatures come to life, with augmented reality features, posted at various points around Dinosaur Forest.

Set over 600 acres, Port Lympne is home to the UK’s most authentic safari experiences.  Visitors can jump on board a safari truck from Basecamp and journey through the South American Experience – home to spectacled bears, capuchin monkeys, alpaca’s, capybara and Brazilian tapirs  - to the Kentish savannahs, where giraffe, rhino, wildebeest and zebra roam freely across the African Experience and animals including Asian water buffalo, takin, barasingha and sambar wander across the Asian Experience.

Within the reserve new mixed animal enclosures are also planned, which will see black rhino sharing their habitat with red lechwe antelope and a further black rhino paddock where the weighty beasts will share their paddocks with cheetah.

Throughout 2017 visitors can take advantage of special themed events at Port Lympne, included in the price of the ticket at no extra cost!  Visitors can also book additional activities for an extra special day, including bespoke safaris, guided tours, team building activities, keeper experiences and many more.

The Reserve, is the only visitor attraction in the UK offering a variety of short break accommodations, including fun and family friendly camping at Pinewood pods, luxury glamping at multi award winning Livingstone Lodge and Bear Lodge, year round relaxation at Livingstone Cottage and the boutique Port Lympne Hotel and the height of contemporary style at the multi award winning Treehouse Hotel. In 2017 new accommodation will be added including Tiger Lodge, set partially within a tiger enclosure and Rhino Cottage, where guests can come face to face with black rhino over the garden fence!
